Bottle-Syringe Adapter
Simple, Powerful, and Easy to Use
Why do we need this?
Current practices for feeding premature infants utilize gavage feeding and syringe feeding simultaneously, due to underdeveloped sucking reflexes present at birth. The lack of sucking reflexes prohibits premature infants from being nurtured at standard flow rates because their vocal folds in the larynx fail to close in time, which can lead to choking. To circumvent these issues, a gavage syringe, coupled with a plunger that permits slow milk flow rates, is combined with a bottle-nipple that promotes sucking reflexes, by varying nipple diameter, in order to streamline the feeding process into a single device: the bottle-syringe.
Bottle-Syringe + Adapter = 1 device
What is the Bottle-Syringe?
The Bottle-Syringe combines feeding bottles, bottle-nipples, and gavage-syringes into one device through the implementation of a novel adapter. The adapter component caters to different nipple types, which facilitates different milk flow rates.
